1963 VW BEETLE "LEI'D LOW"
‘Lei’d Low’ is a 1963 VW Beetle. Inspired by the custom culture, we chose to create a ‘Woody’ with a Hawaiian surf theme. It features 3D embossed wood effect, without the actual use of wood. We used Avery 900 Series, to create an elevation contour of 10 layers to then wrap MPI 1105 with DOL 6460 printed wood effect as the final layer. This finish has been continued throughout the inside of the vehicle. The exterior and interior features a fully templated vinyl wrap, to replicate 60’s inspired custom paint. This was achieved by printing onto DOL 6460 and mounting to Diamond Series SWF.
Some of the features include a Mother of Pearl wrapped steering wheel, a holographic wrapped visor, custom offset wheels with wood effect and has multiple wrapped accessories. With over 600 man hours invested, we decided to make a mini documentary on how this project was created.
